Mandi Landslide Video: Bus With 30 Passengers Narrowly Escapes as Boulders and Debris Crashes Onto Road in Himachal
A major accident was narrowly averted in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on Saturday morning, January 24, after boulders and debris slid from mountail on the road amid rain and snowfall in front of a passenger bus. The incident occurred when the vehicle with 30 passengers was travelling from Pandoh to Maviseri, narrowly escaping as heavy debris fell onto the road just ahead of it.
Stones reportedly struck the bus, but the driver’s quick thinking prevented a tragedy. He immediately stopped the vehicle and began evacuating passengers. Moments later, more debris from the hillside crashed onto the road.
There were around 30 passengers on board at the time of the incident. The sudden collapse of the hill caused panic among passengers, who quickly got off the bus to ensure their safety.

The video of the incident, which went viral on social media, shows a huge fog occured in hillside after debris fell from the mountain in front of buss. The video recorder said that they escaped the tragedy by just one foot.

The road was blocked due to the landslide. Passengers praised the presence of mind shown by driver Bittu and conductor Manu, saying their timely action averted a major accident.
The Thakur Coach bus was passing near the Thamlah ravine at around 8.55 am when the landslide occurred. Following the incident, an administrative team reached the spot to clear the debris and restore traffic.
