New Delhi, March 16 Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said the government may consider thermal screening at the metro stations as a part of checking the spread of coronavirus.

Delhi Metro witnesses a huge footfall per day.

Informing about the steps taken by the city government to avoid the spread of the virus through public transport, Kejriwal said free disinfection has been started by the Delhi government at the bus depots.

"All the private taxis, auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and 'Grameen seva' vehicles can use this facility to prevent community transmission of coronavirus."

He said the government is also daily disinfecting all Delhi buses and the buses which come from other states.

"Bus terminals are also disinfected daily."

The Delhi Metro trains, he added, are also being disinfected every day.

"Thermal screening at metro is under consideration. We may start this," he told the media here.

The Delhi government has taken a number of steps to curb transmission of the disease, including ban of mass gathering of over 50 people.
