Nainital Court Bomb Threat: Email Warning Claims RDX Planted in Judge’s Chamber, Complex Sealed

Panic gripped the Nainital district court in the city after an unidentified individual allegedly sent an email threatening to blow up the premises. The alarming message claimed that the court building would be targeted with explosives, prompting immediate security measures. Soon after the threat surfaced, the entire court complex was transformed into a high-security zone with a heavy police presence deployed across the area. A dog squad and bomb disposal team were pressed into service to conduct an extensive search operation. Authorities sealed the premises and began a thorough inspection to ensure the safety of judges, lawyers, court staff, and visitors.

According to officials, the threatening email was received around 9:45 am on Monday on the official email ID of the District Judge. The message claimed that RDX had been planted inside the judge’s chamber and warned that the explosives would detonate shortly. It also mentioned a demand related to stopping the implementation of EWS reservation in Tamil Nadu and instructed authorities to evacuate the court premises by 12:15 pm. As news of the email spread, tension escalated within the court complex, leading to swift action by the administration and law enforcement agencies.

Bhagwat Prasad, President of District Bar Association, says, "We just got information that the All India Judges Association received an email in which it is written that someone will blow up the court here by 1 pm, and the RDX bomb has been planted. There is an atmosphere of chaos here. All the judges, employees, lawyers and clients have come out of the country's premises."

Following the alert, SP Jagdish Chandra and CO Ravikant Semwal reached the court premises along with a large police contingent. Court chambers were immediately vacated, and main entry points were closed to control movement inside the complex. Only individuals undergoing strict security checks were allowed entry. So far, the bomb disposal squad and dog squad have not found any suspicious object during their search. Meanwhile, a similar bomb threat was reported at the Uttarkashi District Court, where District Judge Gurbakhsh Singh and several advocates were evacuated. Officials stated that a bomb squad team from Dehradun would further examine the premises before reopening it.
