Odisha Shocker: 8-Year-Old Boy Injured, Loses Vision After Chip Packet Blast in Fire

A tragic and heartbreaking incident has came to light were an chip packet exploded on eight-year-old boy. Due to impact of the explosion little boy lost his vision. This incident occurred on Monday in Sagardghat village under the Titlagarh police station area of Odisha. According to reports, After buying chips from a village shop, victim returned home. Later, as he was about to eat them after tuition, his mother, Bhanumati Harpal, was cooking in the kitchen, having briefly stepped out to fetch water while the gas stove was on. 

It is reported that during this time, the child went near the gas stove with the packet of chips in his hand. Suddenly, the packet slipped from his hand, came into contact with the fire, and exploded with a loud bang. The explosion was so powerful that it directly impacted the child's face. The blast caused severe injury to the child's eye, completely damaging it. Hearing the child's screams, the mother rushed into the kitchen, where she found her son covered in blood.

Family immediately rushed him to the hospital and after examination, the doctors informed them that the eye injury was so severe that it could not be saved, and the child would never be able to see with that eye again.

Bhanumati Harpal tearfully recounted giving her son money for biscuits, only for him to buy chips instead. She expressed outrage that children's food could explode upon contact with fire, lamenting the loss of her son's eyesight after eight years of raising him. The family has filed a police report against the chip manufacturer, prompting an investigation into the product's quality, contents, and the cause of the explosion.
