Puducherry Assembly Election 2026: Robot ‘Nila’ Welcomes Voters With Flowers at Polling Station (Watch Video)
Voting for the Puducherry Assembly election has begun at 7 am on Thursday, April 9. In one of the polling stations, a robot with a bunch of flower petals was welcoming voters to the booth. The robot named Nila was deployed at a polling station in VOC Government School.
Nila is assisting voters with languages in English and Tamil with "welcome to the polling station." The robot operator, Kaushik, who works with RoboMirror, said that the robot can speak any language you select.

"This robot has a name, Nila. This is an event-based robot - events like weddings, official work and elections. We are coming from Coimbatore. Nila robot has multiple features...It also has a voice feature, and it can talk on its own. We can feed in the command and voice will be audible to the person nearby. She is welcoming the voters here," Kaushik told the news agency ANI.
Meanwhile, voting is underway at 30 constituencies with a total of 10,14,070 eligible voters. The electorate has 5,39125 female voters and 4,74,788 male voters. Among the voters, 24,156 belong to the 18–19 age group, while 6,034 are senior citizens aged 85 and above.
