Pulwama Terror Attack Anniversary: ‘March for Unity’ Held in Kupwara’s Trehgam to Honour 40 CRPF Martyrs

A ‘March for Unity’ was organised by the civil society of Trehgam in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, on February 14 to pay heartfelt tribute to the victims of the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. Residents from different walks of life, including elders, youth and children, participated in the march, holding placards and raising slogans in memory of the fallen soldiers. The gathering observed a moment of silence to honour the brave personnel who lost their lives in one of the deadliest terror attacks in the region.

The Pulwama terror attack took place on February 14, 2019, in the Lethpora area of Awantipora in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. A suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a convoy of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), killing 40 personnel and injuring several others. The attack was claimed by Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed. The incident triggered nationwide outrage and grief, with people across India paying tribute to the martyrs and demanding strong action against terrorism.

During the march in Trehgam, members of the civil society reiterated their solidarity with the armed forces and condemned terrorism. A civil society member said, “Everyone knows that on 14 February 2019, Pakistan did a cowardly act. Today we are observing Black Day for that. The purpose of gathering here is that whatever cowardly acts of Pakistan come in front of us, we will be ready to give a befitting reply. Pakistan should forget about Kashmir.” Participants emphasised unity and pledged to stand together against any attempts to disturb peace in the region.

Children carrying the national flag were seen walking alongside elders, reflecting a collective resolve to remember the sacrifice of the CRPF jawans. The march concluded with prayers for the departed souls and a call for lasting peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir, while reaffirming support for the nation’s fight against terrorism.
