Amid the coronavirus lockdown the government's decision  to start passenger trains came as a huge respite to the stranded migrants who have been the most affected due to COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the Piyush Goyal-led Indian Railways for the convenience of the common man decided to run 200 trains from 1 for which the booking commenced from May 21st. These special services will be in addition to the existing 'Shramik' special trains being run since May 1 and the special AC trains (30 trains) being run since May 12.

However, according to a report on the Hindi website of Zee News there might be a slight glitch in the bookings of these tickets due to some technical reasons. During this phase  you will not be able to book, cancel or cannot inquire for the tickets. Indian Railways has announced the closure of Delhi-based Passenger Reservation System (Delhi PRS) from May 30th 11.45 am to May 31st 3.15 am. During this time frame the  Delhi inquiry service 139 will be completely shut down due to technical issues. Apart from this, facilities like ticket reservation, cancellation, charting, internet booking, PRS inquiry will also be closed which is likely to cause incovenience to the passengers.

Almost 1.50 lakh tickets were booked within two hours of opening the bookings for the 100 pairs of passenger trains that the railways will operationalise on June 1. The list included popular trains such as Durontos, Sampark Krantis, Jan Shatabdi and Poorva Express.
