Tamil Nadu News: 8 Dead, Several Injured After Tempo Traveller Skids Off Road in Valparai
A tempo traveler carrying 13 people from Perinthalmanna, Kerala, on their way down from Valparai after a sightseeing trip met with an accident. According to police reports, Mohammed Fasith (21), the driver, lost control of the vehicle at the 13th hairpin bend. As a result, the car went off the road and fell towards the 9th hairpin bend. In this accident eight people died, five persons sustained grievous injuries, including the driver, two male juveniles aged between 17 and 18 years, and two females.
All the injured were immediately rescued and shifted to the Government Hospital, Pollachi, through 108 Ambulance services for medical treatment. Upon receiving the report, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Valparai Sub-Division, and the Inspector of Police, Valparai, immediately arrived and oversaw rescue and relief efforts. Fire and Rescue Services personnel were deployed, and victims were quickly evacuated from the scene.
A large rescue operation was launched, with 16 ambulances responding to the scene. Thirteen ambulances transported the injured to Pollachi Government Hospital. All injured individuals have been safely rescued and hospitalized. The bodies of the eight deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation into the accident's cause is ongoing. Updates will be provided as available.

PM Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the incident and posted on X, "Distressed to hear about the mishap in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. I extend my heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the mishap. Prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured."
