Amroha, Oct 25 A BJP leader died when her car was hit by a truck in Naugawan Sadat area of Uttar Pradesh's Amroha.

The BJP leader, identified as Sarita Singh, was returning home from Noorpur to Moradabad.

As soon as the collision occurred, the car caught fire, in which she was badly burnt.

Police reached the spot and after much effort admitted the injured BJP leader to the district hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead.

A case against the unknown driver of the truck has been registered by the police.

According to police, the BJP leader was going from Noorpur to her home in Moradabad in her car at around 1 a.m. in the night. She was alone and was driving the car herself.

The car was badly damaged in the accident and caught fire.

Injured Singh was badly burnt after getting trapped in the flames.

Meanwhile, a call came on Singh's mobile from her family members due to which the police could identify her.

CO Anjali Kataria said that an FIR has been registered against the unknown driver of the truck in the case and efforts are on to identify him.
