Sensex rose over 190 points in early trade due to improvement in global markets, although it saw pressure later.

During this, the 30-share Sensex rose 190.34 points to reach 54,555.19. Similarly, the NSE Nifty jumped 65.55 points to 16,305.60 in opening deals.

However, the market could not maintain its lead and soon came into the red. Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid, Tata Steel, HDFC, and Mahindra & Mahindra gained in the Sensex in early trade.

In contrast, Asian Paints, Hindustan Unilever, Larsen & Toubro, and IndusInd Bank were among the major losers. Among other Asian markets, markets in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Seoul were trading with gains.

Meanwhile, international oil standard Brent crude rose 1.64 percent to $104.14 per barrel.
