Sri Lanka Crisis: People have to pay 2000 for one liter milk and Rs 100 for one cup tea

Milk is being sold here more expensive than petrol. According to Colombo News, a liter of milk costs Rs 2,000 in Sri Lanka now. Also, the price of a cup of tea has gone up to Rs 100 in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Chilies are being sold at Rs 700 per kg.

It costs Rs 200 per kg of potatoes. Fuel shortages have also affected power generation. Many cities are now experiencing 12 to 15-hour power outages. In such a scenario, India has given 1 billion to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is indebted to many countries. Foreign exchange reserves fell more than 70 percent to 2.36 billion dollars in January, a steady decline. Due to the shortage of foreign exchange, most of the essential commodities, medicines, petrol, and diesel are imported from abroad.

According to a report released in the last few days, about 1,000 bakeries in the country have been shut down due to a shortage of cooking gas and electricity and the rest of the bakeries are not producing properly.

The January report said that between November 2021 and December 2021, food inflation in Sri Lanka rose by 15 percent in one month.

People have to buy a packet of bread for Rs 150. Not only that, the price of one kg of rice and sugar has reached Rs 290 per kg. At present people have to spend up to Rs 100 for a cup of tea.
