The Maha Vikas Aghadhi (MVA) government in Maharashtra led by Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, on Wednesday transferred Mumbai's Police Commissioner Parambir Singh and appointed Hemant Nagrale (IPS) as the new Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh informed. Param Bir Singh has now been posted as DG Home Guard.

He investigated and completed a number of cases, such as the Ketan Parekh scam, the Madhopura Co-op bank scam (Rs 800 crore) and the Harshad Mehta 2001 (Rs 400 crore) Rs 30 crore bank scam.

On promotion, Nagrale was posted as Special IGP and Director at MSEDCL (gambling 2008-August 2010). His tenure leads to better enforcement and a 25 per cent increase in company revenue by reducing better electricity enforcement matters.

Soon after taking charge as Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Nagrale said, 'at present, the Mumbai Police is undergoing turmoil due to some bad instances that have occurred. I won't comment on the ongoing investigation. We will regain the glory and pride of Mumbai Police.'
