Get driving licence without taking test at RTO - Know everything about the new rule

Drivers in India will be able to acquire a Driving Licence (DL) without undertaking a driving test at any Regional Transport Office (RTO).
The only catch is that the candidates will have to complete training and pass the test, which will be recorded electronically for audit.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has recently notified a new rule, under which, candidates will be allowed to get a driving license after successfully completing training from an accredited driver training centre.
After they pass the training, candidates will be exempted from the driving test at the time of obtaining a driving licence.
The new rule will come into effect from 1 July 2021, according to the ministry.
MoRTH took to Twitter and stated, "Shortage of skilled drivers is one of the major issues in the Indian roadways sector and a large number of road accidents occur due to lack of knowledge of road regulations."
In order to provide high-quality training for candidates, the training centres should be well equipped with simulators and a dedicated driving test track.
As per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, two types of courses can be availed at these centres - remedial and refresher courses.
These centers will be allowed to provide industry-specific specialized training as well.
Accredited driver training centres will be granted accreditation for a period of five years and maybe renewed thereafter.
