However, now this rule will be applicable to General Reservation tickets from October 1.
Meanwhile, Indian Railways has taken this decision with the aim of preventing confusion in railway ticket booking. Accordingly, this change in the rules will be implemented from October 1, 2025. According to the new rules, only those whose Aadhaar has been verified will be able to book tickets in the first 15 minutes after the reservation starts.
This rule of reservation tickets will be applicable on the IRCTC website and other apps. While this time process will remain applicable for those purchasing tickets from the computerized PRS counter as before.
From October 1, Aadhaar verified accounts will be given priority. Accordingly, for the first 15 minutes, accounts other than verified Aadhaar accounts will not be allowed to book. The main purpose of this rule is to curb ticket brokers and to reach the verified users. Railways is trying to bring transparency in the railway ticket booking process by limiting online booking to authenticated users only.
