WhatsApp hacking gang busted in Nigeria

A team of Tilak Marg Police Thane and Special Staff Force in New Delhi has busted a gang that was hacking WhatsApp and laundering millions of rupees. Police arrested a Nigerian national named Okwudiri Paschal from Bangalore.

According to New Delhi DCP Deepak Yadav, a man named Ranglal had lodged a complaint to the police on November 2. He received a WhatsApp message asking them to update their WhatsApp.

According to the information given by the complainant, as soon as he filled the 6 digit OTP, the screen of the mobile was locked and the mobile was hacked. He then started soliciting money from the person who hacked WhatsApp by calling other contacts on his mobile and himself.

Tilak Nagar police registered a complaint and started an investigation. According to police, a police team was dispatched to Bangalore. The hacker was constantly changing his bank account, and as soon as the money was deposited in his account, he withdrew it to the bank account.

On November 16, police set a trap to apprehend the accused and a suspected Nigerian man came out of an ATM in Bangalore to withdraw money. Also, the police caught him red-handed. The accused tried to flee by pushing the police and the suspicion of the police came true.

The Police caught the accused, he had also demanded Rs 20,000 from one of the contacts and withdraw it from ATM.

Police have seized a total of 7 ATM cards, several SIM cards, and four mobile phones from the accused. During the interrogation of the accused, the modus operandi came to light and the police came to know that it was an international gang.

WhatsApp of Indian individuals is being hacked from Nigeria and the handlers of hackers are scattered all over India. These are the handlers who work to extort money from the person concerned.

The Delhi Police has appealed to WhatsApp not to click on any such update message and if a mobile number is requested, it should not be given at all. Once your WhatsApp is hacked, it doesn't take long for the phone to be hacked.
