Pune: Swargate Rape Case Accused's Lawyer’s Alleged Assault & Kidnapping Turns Out To Be Drunken Road Accident

Claims of lawyer Sahil Dongre’s abduction in connection with the Swargate rape case have been proven false. Police said Dongre, who assists the defense counsel for accused Datta Gade, was injured in a road accident while under the influence of alcohol.

Advocate Wajed Khan Bidkar, representing Gade, had alleged that Dongre was kidnapped and assaulted by a group of 20 to 22 people before being abandoned at Dive Ghat. However, police investigations found no evidence to support these claims.

CCTV Footage and Call Records Reveal Truth

According to police, Dongre was last seen around 10 p.m. leaving a bar in Pune with his friend Aniket Maske. CCTV footage confirmed that he was intoxicated. Location tracking showed that Dongre was at Dive Ghat at 11:30 p.m. and again at 5 a.m.

Emergency services received a distress call from Dongre’s mobile phone on helplines 108 and 112. Police control room officials were alerted about an unconscious man involved in an accident. Officers at Saswad outpost also received a call regarding the incident.

Dongre himself called helpline 108 early in the morning, reporting his accident. An ambulance from Saswad Rural Health Hospital responded and transported him for medical treatment. Police said preliminary investigations confirmed that Dongre was not abducted but had suffered injuries in a road accident.

What Was Initially Claimed

Reports initially suggested that unidentified individuals kidnapped Dongre from Hadapsar and took him to Dive Ghat. It was alleged that he was assaulted before being abandoned. After the incident, Dongre filed a complaint at Hadapsar Police Station and sought medical assistance. He is currently receiving treatment at Sassoon Hospital.

Police have ruled out abduction and confirmed that Dongre’s injuries were caused by an accident. Investigations are ongoing to verify all details.
