New Delhi, Dec 8 In a bid to improve the performance of its Cloud-based storage service OneDrive, Microsoft has released a sync app for Windows on Arm and Apple's M1 Macs.

The company said in an update that OneDrive sync for native ARM devices is now available in public preview.

"We're excited to announce that OneDrive sync for Windows on ARM and for Apple silicon is now available as a public preview," the company said.

To enable the preview, you'll need to make sure that you've joined the Insiders ring and enabled the preview in OneDrive Settings > About, the company added.

Mcrosoft is rolling out this feature to the Insiders ring over the next few days.

"This should improve the performance of the OneDrive sync app, as the OneDrive process will no longer run emulated on Windows on Arm. The jump to 64-bit is also useful for OneDrive users with lots of files or large files," reports The Verge.

Microsoft's OneDrive support for Apple's M1 Macs and Windows on Arm comes after Dropbox revealed it's testing its own native app.

Dropbox is currently supported on Apple's M1 Macs but an updated app is expected next year.
