Thane Traffic Police Issue Advisory for Mahashivratri Celebrations Near Nandibaba Temple from February 15–19; Details Inside

On the occasion of Mahashivratri, Thane traffic police have issued an advisory to avoid congestion during the festival celebration between February 15 to 19, 2026. Large number of devotees to visit the temple for darshan during the festival period.  To make sure smooth traffic movement and public convenience, their will be traffic diversion during peak hour. 

Restrictions And Alternative Routes

Restrictions: Vehicles going towards Kolshet from outside the Majiwada Manpada Ward Committee restircted. 

Alternate Route: Vehicles diverted via Kapurbawdi Circle towards Tattvagyan Vidyapeeth Road, Brahmand area or R Mall routes.

Closure and Alternate route. 

  • Vehicles from Kolshet to Kapurbawdi Circle and Majiwada Manpada will be diverted at Dhokali Signal via Manorama Nagar or Lodha Business District towards Brahmand.
  • Commuters traveling from Ghodbunder Thane main road towards Kolshet via Naupada signal and D Mart junction will face entry closure at R Mall and be diverted via Manorama Nagar and Dhokali Signal.
  • Vehicles coming from R Mall service road and Hotel Vihang Inn towards Kolshet will also be restricted at R Mall and diverted via the same route.

Restrictions will be implemented from  15 February to 19 February 2026 between 5 pm and 10 pm daily. Fire brigade, ambulances, green corridor vehicles, oxygen transport vehicles and other essential service vehicles will be exempt from these restrictions, said police.

Traffic police urge citizens to cooperate with authorities and adhere to diversion routes to maintain smooth traffic flow and public safety during the Mahashivratri festival. Officials emphasize that public cooperation will ensure safe and organized celebrations for devotees visiting Shri Nandibaba Temple.
