Thane Tragedy: Car Gutted By Fire on Viviana Mall Flyover; Occupants Escape Unharmed
Thane: A car got gutted into a fire on Nashik-Mumbai lane of Viviana Mall flyover, fortunately, all four occupants, including the driver. According to RDMC, Thane Municipal Corporation, incident occurred on Saturday, February 21,2026 at approximately 01:04.
As per the FPJ reports, vehicle driven by Mr Darbar Singh, was en route from Sambhaji Nagar to Malad, Mumbai, when the fire broke out. Following an alert from local resident Smt. Dakshata, emergency services were immediately dispatched. The response team, including Rabodi Police officers for traffic and security, a fire engine, a rescue vehicle, and a utility vehicle with dedicated staff, extinguished the fire by 1:25 am after a 20-minute effort.
Timely escape of four occupants averted major tragedy. However car was reduced to a charred skeleton. RDMC official stated,"The occupants noticed the fire in time and evacuated the vehicle immediately, preventing what could have been a major tragedy."
Following the tragedy traffic on Nashik-Mumbai stretch of the highway was briefly affected during the firefighting operations but returned to normalcy shortly after the flames were doused. The fire's cause is under investigation, with a suspected short circuit in the engine compartment. The site is clear, and the situation is under control.
