Aurangabad, April 18:It has become difficult for the Corona patients to get the beds in the hospitals in the city. On the other hand, the Covid Care Centres (CCC) are vacant as the non-symptomatic patients also prefer to be admitted in the city hospitals.The asymptomatic and with minor symptoms patients are treated at the CCC. However, these patients considering that they will get more facilities or oxygen if needed are getting admitted in the city hospitals rather than the CCC. These patients are occupying the beds in the hospital and as a result, the serious patients who really need the ventilator treatment are not getting the beds in the hospitals. However, considering the increasing number of the patients in the district, there is a grave need to provide all the necessary facilities along with the oxygen beds at the CCCs, the experts opined.Presently, there are 69 hospitals in the city providing Covid treatment which included 7809 normal beds, of which, 2418 are vacant. Similarly, there are 2144 oxygen beds, of which 448 are vacant. There are 17 CCCs in the city which has 3087 beds and 1296 are vacant. There are 2427 patients in home isolation.The serious Corona patients are being treated at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). There are presently, 617 patients admitted, of which, 542 are serious while 75 are normal patients.AMC medical officer Dr Nita Padalkar said that the asymptomatic patients are generally in home isolation while the symptomatic and serious patients are being admitted in the hospitals. There are around 50 percent beds vacant in the CCCs, she said.
