Cricket Australia has threatened to call off the match amid reports of the Taliban's ban on women sports. Afghanistan has been in political mayhem ever since the Taliban took over the reins of the country. Enforcing their laws, the Taliban has made a number of changes in the ways the country functions. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) was all set to launch its first women's national team but the plans now look shelved considering the Talian's view on women in sports.Australia and Afghanistan's men's team are scheduled to meet in their maiden Test at Hobart's Blundstone Arena from November 27 but it seems like the match will not go ahead. Cricket Australia is understandably upset with the ruling of the Taliban regime on women's sports. Looking at the current circumstances, Cricket Australia issued a statement on Thursday, warning to call off the Test match against Afghanistan's men's team if the Taliban's take on women's sports, especially cricket, does not change. "Driving the growth of women’s cricket globally is incredibly important to Cricket Australia," the statement from CA read."Our vision for cricket is that it is a sport for all and we support the game unequivocally for women at every level. If recent media reports that women’s cricket will not be supported in Afghanistan are substantiated, Cricket Australia would have no alternative but to not host Afghanistan for the proposed Test Match due to be played in Hobart. We thank the Australian and Tasmanian Governments for their support on this important issue. "A spokesperson for the Taliban government, Ahmadullah Wasiq, spoke to Australian broadcaster SBS News on the matter saying women's cricket is not permitted under Islamic law. Hence, even if the historic Test match between Australia and Afghanistan is put at stake, the government's stance on women's sports will not change. "Islam and the Islamic Emirate do not allow women to play cricket or play the kind of sports where they get exposed," Wasiq said. "In cricket, they might face a situation where their face and body will not be covered. Islam does not allow women to be seen like this. It is the media era, and there will be photos and videos, and then people watch it." Australia and Afghanistan's men's team are scheduled to meet in their maiden Test at Hobart's Blundstone Arena from November 27.
