Aurangabad, May 10:MP Imtiaz Jaleel said that ventilators sent to the district from PM Care Fund are of sub-standard quality.He made this allegation in a meeting of district administration and people’s representatives organised on Monday over COVID monitoring and measures.Replying to this, MP Bhagwat Karad demanded that Jaleel should prove this with evidence.Additional district collector Dr Anant Gavhane, Zilla Parishad president Meena Shelke, MLAs Haribhau Bagade, Sanjay Shirsath, Atul Save, Udaysingh Rajput, MLC Ambadas Danve, administrator of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation Astik Kumar Pandey, chief executive officer of ZP Dr Mangesh Gondavale, dean of Government Medical College and Hospital Dr Kanan Yelikar, Dr Sunda Kulkani and AMC health officer Dr Neeta Padalkar were present.MP Jaleel said that the ventilators made available from PM Care Fund are being not used with their full capacity.“Since they have developed a technical snag, it seems that they have sub-standard quality.The technical problem should be solved and ventilator beds should be made available for the pandemic patients,” he said.Angry over this, MP Karad and MLA save said all ventilators would be checked with technicians' help.“We have sought SOP for ventilators from the joint secretary of Health Department of Central Government,” they asserted.Meanwhile, Astik Kumar Pandey said that the distribution of financial aid announced for registered hawkers has started.MLA Shirsath demanded legal action against some hospitals which are over-charging COVID patients. The district is facing a shortage of ventilators. The Centre Government provided 100 ventilators for the region while 55 of them were given to Parbhani, Hingoli and Beed districts.The public representatives had expressed displeasure in the meeting held on April 3 about patients waiting for ventilator beds despite the central government's made available ventilators.The administration has started details of availability of ventilators, sent to other districts, faulty ventilators. The Central Government had given 100 ventilators of Rs 20 crore last year. The administration claimed that 60 ventilators that were out of order were got repaired.The Central Government allotted 100 ventilators for the second wave. Out of them, 55 were given to other districts. The cost of each ventilator is Rs 10 lakh.
