A shopkeeper was held for making and selling adulterated pomegranate juice to customers in Uttar Pradesh's Basti district. A video of him being caught by a customer was circulated on social media on Thursday. In a viral video, a man alleged that the worker at the juice shop mixed liquid food colours to make pomegranate juice, which could be 'poisonous' for consumers. Taking to X handle, the police informed that a food inspector from Basti visited the vendor and discovered a chemical, which was found to be an edible food colour of a certified company. "When the case was investigated by the Food Inspector of Basti district, it was found that the said chemical was found to be edible food colour of a certified company, which can be eaten/drunk after mixing it in balanced quantities. Further action will be taken on the basis of the report, peace and law and order are maintained," said Basti Police in a post on X.
