Aurangabad, Oct 30:

In all, 14 policemen in the city police force have been promoted as Police Sub-inspector (PSI) after clearing the departmental examination conducted by the State home ministry recently. DCP, Meena Makwana gave the promotion orders and posting to all these eligible policemen on Thursday.

Around 28,000 policemen appeared for the departmental examination in the state in 2013. Out of which, 19,000 cleared the examination. However, the promotions of the eligible policemen hampered over the period due to various reasons. Finally, the home department on October 20 resolved the issue.

PSI posts in the state police force are fulfilled in three ways, through MPSC exams, direct recruitment through departments and departmental examination. Earlier, the constables or ASIs completing five years of service were eligible for the departmental examination. However, this condition was removed and the policemen completing ten years of service were considered eligible for the PSI department examination since 2013.

In all, 14 hawaldars and ASI cleared this examination. They were given the promotion orders on Thursday, of which two have been posted at Aurangabad and Jalna circles and the remaining 12 at various places in the Aurangabad Commissionerate jurisdiction.
