Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Manwithindies Foundation (MF) and Forest Department jointly saved 18 birds during the ‘Bird Week’ in the different parts of the city.

Bird Week was celebrated from November 5 to 12, to raise awareness about birds and the biodiversity of our region.

The MF and the Forest Department, rescued 18 birds, including species like the Barn Owl, Coucal, Bulbul, Peacock, Myna, Egret, Koel, Parakeet, Lapwing, Shikra, Pond Heron, Drongo and kite.

Among these, the barn owl had a wing injury, the peacocks suffered from bacterial infections, a myna had a broken leg, and baby bulbuls had fallen from their nest. A large kite was trapped in a banned glue trap, while Pond Heron and other birds were severely injured by nylon manja.

The birds were treated at the Forest Department’s Wildlife Treatment Center successfully and released back into nature.

Manwithindies Foundation’s Wildlife Rescue Team was led by Ashish Joshi. Manoj Gaikwad, Shubham Salve, Chidambar Kale, Sumit Ghodke, Suraj Pankade and Sarthak Agrawal participated in the initiative.
