2 youths drowned at Kolthan Shivar in Phulambri

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Two youths from Chikalthana drowned in the lake at Kolthan Shivar in Phulambri tehsil of the district on Tuesday afternoon.

The names of the deceased have been identified as Sachin Gajanan Warade (21) and Samarth Babasaheb Chitale (16), both are residents of Savitrinagar, Chikalthana. They had gone to see Khatushyam Maharaj.

Sachin and Samarth had gone to the newly built Khatushyam Maharaj temple in Kolthan with their friends at 8 am on Tuesday. Since there was a large crowd of devotees on a holiday, they started their way back after taking darshan at the Mandir.

When they reached the lake in Shivara in the afternoon, they could not resist the temptation to swim. Initially, five friends jumped into the water. Since the water was low near the shore, everyone was calm. However, Sachin and Samarth swam into the deep part and disappeared after some time. However, this matter was not noticed by the friends for some time.

When the friends who reached the lake from behind asked, they found that both of them were nowhere to be seen, and an atmosphere of fear spread among everyone.

They immediately informed the local citizens and the Phulambri police about this. Upon receiving information about the incident, Police Inspector Sanjay Sahane rushed to the spot with a team.

Local youths got into the lake and pulled the two out, and they were admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), but the doctors declared them dead.

The panchnama of this incident was done by constable Kailas Rathod and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Raghuveer Murade. Meanwhile, as soon as the news of the death of Sachin and Samarth came to light, grief spread in the Savitrinagar area.

Sachin Warade was the only son of his parents. He was working in a garage while his father was a tractor driver. Sachin's family consists of parents and a sister. The death of a young son has brought grief to the Warade family, which had been struggling to make ends meet.

Samarth Chitale is originally from Chakegaon (Pathardi) in Ahilyanagar and has been living with his uncle in Chikhalthana for a year. He was studying in the 10th class at Rajshree Shahu Vidyalaya. He gave his 10th class paper on Monday and since Tuesday was a holiday, he went to Kolthan with his friends to have darshan of Khatushyam Maharaj.
