Aurangabad, Dec 25:

The prolonged issue of the appointments of the 201 Community Health Officers (CHO) hampered due to the model code of conduct for the grampanchayat elections in the district has been finally resolved due to the efforts of District Health Officer, Dr Sudhakar Shelke. The appointments of the 201 selected CHOs hampered as the counseling round of the selection process was not held. Now, the State Election Commission (SEC) on December 18 sent a letter to DHO and directed that counseling round can be conducted even in the model code of conduct period.

Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, out of the total 279 CHOs to be appointed in the district, 201 Unani, Ayurveda doctors were selected after implementing the recruitment process in the first phase. However, their counseling process scheduled on December 14 was hampered due to model code of conduct and so was their appointment. However, considering the possible threat of Corona Crisis, it was important that the CHOs were appointed at the health centres at the earliest. Hence, Dr Shelke requested SEC in this regard and now, the Counseling process will be implemented on December 28. The process will be implemented in the groups of 25 each, informed the district project manager, Dr Vinayak Mundhe.
