32 hostel students assaulted; Christ International School, Ahmedpur lodges plaint against teacher
Ahmedpur (Latur): A teacher allegedly thrashed 30 to 32 students of a school hostel at Thorlewadi in the Ahmedpur tehsil with a bamboo stick. Based on a complaint filed by the principal, a case was registered at the Ahmedpur police station on Sunday evening.
According to the police, the accused teacher, Ujjwal Prakash Soni (resident of Jawahar Ward, near Sai Mandir, Betul Bazaar, Betul, Madhya Pradesh), who works at the hostel of Christ International School in Thorlewadi, suspected that students had damaged his motorcycle. Over this, at around 10 pm on February 21, he allegedly abused 30 to 32 hostel students in obscene language and brutally beat them with a stick. He also reportedly threatened the students, saying he would soon become the principal of the school and would “deal with them” then.
School principal Jaibaberla Prepin Nadar lodged a complaint, following which a case was registered against Soni. Police have arrested the accused. Further investigation is underway under the guidance of police inspector Vinod Metrewar, with police sub-inspector Smita Jadhav conducting the probe.
School stands by students; action initiated against teacher
“I myself, as the principal of the school, filed a complaint against the teacher Soni, leading to the registration of the case. The safety of students is our top priority. The incident is extremely unfortunate and condemnable. Immediate legal action has been taken against the individual concerned. The school administration stands firmly with the students and will continue to ensure their complete safety,” said principal Jaibaberla Nadar.
