Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A total of 5,819 teachers from private higher secondary, secondary, and primary schools, who were appointed to partially aided posts before November 2005 when the old pension scheme was discontinued have been deprived of its benefits. Across the state, this number exceeds 25,000.

Under the leadership of Marathwada Graduates’ Constituency MLC Satish Chavan, various teachers’ organisations have demanded immediate action to implement the old pension scheme for these teachers. A memorandum in this regard was submitted to divisional deputy director of education Kailas Datkhil.

According to the memorandum submitted by the organisations, the Bombay High Court, on February 27, 2025, directed that the old provident fund scheme be implemented for teaching and non-teaching staff working on partially aided posts in aided private higher secondary, secondary, and primary schools prior to November 1, 2005.

Following this, salary superintendent offices from the districts of Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, and Hingoli in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division collected and submitted the required information to the deputy director. The data shows that 942 higher secondary teachers, 3,737 secondary teachers, and 1,127 primary teachers totalling 5,819 across these five districts remain deprived of the benefits.

However, no action has been taken for the past six months, a concern highlighted by MLC Satish Chavan to the deputy director. The deputy director assured the delegation that the proposals would be scrutinised and a list of eligible teachers would be released soon.

The delegation included prof Sunil Magre (MUPTA), Ravindra Patil, university senate member Dr Bharat Khairnar, prof Haridas Somvanshi, Ganesh Shinde (Teachers’ Council), Dilip Kunde, Sanjay Gaikwad, Govind Shinde, Arun Kate, Ujjwala Jadhav, Savita Patil, and other teachers.
