76 percent crimes detected this year

In all, 1037 cases were registered less than last year by November end in 2020. During the same period in 2019, in all 4540 cases were registered, of which, 3187 were detected while in 2020, in all 3503 cases were registered in various police station in the Aurangabad Police Commissionerate jurisdiction while 2673 were detected. The crime detection rate this year is 76 percent which is the highest in the past five years. Similarly, the conviction rate in the court has increased from 34 percent last year to 42 per cent this year. In 2019, 2437 cases were disposed off, in which conviction was 827. This year in all, 600 cases were disposed off while the conviction were 251, informed the commissioner of police, Dr Nikhil Gupta in a press conference here on Wednesday.
Dr Gupta said, in November 2019 end, the minor offenses like Arms Acts, gambling, drugs, essential commodities Act, liquor etc were 2133, of which 2122 were detected, which is 99 percent detection. In 2020, the cases were 3339 and the detection were 3323 which is almost 100 percent detection.
In 2019, the total property stolen amounted Rs 9,75,33,032 and the articles recovered amounted Rs 2,61,09,866. The recovery was 27 percent. Similarly, in 2020, the articles stolen amounted Rs 4,45,73749 and recovered articles Rs 1,48,80,523 and the recovery was 33 percent.
Crime against women cases reduced by 107 this year. The total cases last year were 700 and this year the cases registered were 593. Similarly, the cases of prohibitory action were 4499 last year and this year the cases were 2912. In all, seven persons have been detained under MPDA this year, Dr Gupta said.
Accident cases also reduced from 516 to 352 this year as compared to last year and the deaths in accident reduced from 188 to 121. In all, 55 complainants duped online were returned their amount Rs 11,54,581/-. In all, 563 motorcycle thefts cases were registered in 2020, of which, 149 were detected. 20 cases of chain snatching registered and three were detected.
Various projects were also implemented through the community policing in which, employment generation, mediation in domestic disputes, women empowerment and other issues, the CP said.
