Aurangabad, Oct 17:

The contractors at Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today expressed their pleasure after they received deposition of partial dues in their accounts since today morning.

The contractors had done significant development works in Gunthewari Areas, during 2014 and 2017. Accordingly, the bills to the tune of Rs 230 crore were lying uncleared for the past three years. The civic body could not recoup the financial crunch as the expenditure side was several times more than its income side since past many years.

Meanwhile, as the festival season is approaching, the civic chief A K Pandey ordered the accounts section to do financial planning of Rs 20 crore to release partial dues to contractors. The chief accounts officer Sanjay Pawar toiled hard and arranged to collect Rs 40 crore through Town Planning, Water Tax and Property Tax.

The AMC assured of releasing next instalment of Rs 40 crore in January or February and AMC has started its planning as well.

The bills of contractors'' bills are given on a seniority basis. Hence, the AMC sent a list of contractors to the bank on Friday evening. Accordingly, the bank started transferring or depositing the mentioned amount in the list in the accounts from today morning.
