Aurangabad, April 25:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) launched a mega vaccination campaign in the city to prevent the spread of coronavirus. But the campaign is being hampered by the government's failure to provide vaccines. Vaccination has been closed in the city since Friday. On Sunday, only 25,000 vaccines were given to AMC by the government. This stock is enough for four to five days. Vaccination will be held at all centres in the city on Monday.

It was decided to effectively implement a mega vaccination campaign to prevent corona infection. The corporation has started a vaccination campaign for all citizens above 45 years in all 115 wards of the city. This vaccination campaign is getting a good response from the citizens. It was assumed that the vaccination campaign would be halted due to the depletion of vaccine stocks. Hence as per the instructions of municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey, the AMC had demanded 1.5 lakh Covishield and Covaxin vaccines from the government. The government has provided stocks of 25,000 vaccines to AMC which is enough for four to five days. The government has adopted a policy of not giving new ones until the old stocks run out. Vaccination will be resumed at all the centres in the city from Monday, said deputy commissioner and task force chief Aparna Thete.
