Aurangabad, Nov 7:
The cleanliness drive launched by Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), under programme Love Aurangabad, today attracted good people''s participation with civic sanitary personnel. The enthused citizens, along with the AMC employees, lifted dry garbage, including plastic waste and paper waste in all nine zones of the city.
The drive was launched under the supervision of the in-charge of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Cell Nandkishore Bhombe by all the sanitary inspectors, jawans and workers in the jurisdiction of each zone since early morning. The members of Prayas Foundation, We for Environment and Civic Response Team (CRT) also participated in the drive, apart from former corporators Shivaji Dandge and Kirti Shinde.
The civic officials also presented appreciation certificates duly signed by the municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey to the citizens who had participated in the drive. Earlier, the civic chief had set a target and urged all the citizens to cooperate and strive to maintain the city clean and hygienic to include Aurangabad in the list of top 10 clean cities of the country. Today''s people''s participation will prompt others to participate in the drive in the coming days, said Bhombe.
The cleanliness drive was also implemented on the campus of the office of superintendent of police (SP) by AMC''s Zone III personnel. The police personnel and occupants staying in the police colony participated in the drive enthusiastically. The appreciation certificate signed by the civic chief was also presented to participants by additional superintendent of police (ASP) Gorakh Suresh Bhamre. The deputy superintendent of police (DySP) Namdeo Phunde and Bhombe were also present on occasion.
The AMC''s sanitary staff will resume the task of lifting dry garbage in their respective zones tomorrow (on Sunday) morning.
