Attempt to issue fake appointment order for lab technician post in ZP foiled

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

An attempt to fraudulently secure a lab technician appointment in the Zilla Parishad (ZP) Health Department was foiled after a woman allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh in exchange for an appointment order. The attempt was exposed due to the alertness of the then Chief Accounts and Finance Officer (CAFO). However, the woman fled from Subhedari Rest House before being caught.

On Wednesday, a woman visited the Subhedari Rest House and contacted a young man, asking him to check an appointment order for the post of lab technician in the ZP that she had sent to him on WhatsApp. She allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh for issuing the appointment order. The young man showed the order to former ZP CAFO Chavan, who noticed that it had been prepared on a fake letterhead of IBPS, a company that conducts competitive examinations. The document also carried a forged signature of additional chief executive officer Vasudev Solanke.

Suspecting foul play, Chavan contacted Solanke to verify whether any recruitment process was underway in the ZP. Solanke clarified that no recruitment was currently in progress.

Meanwhile, noticing a delay in response from the young man, the woman fled from the Subhedari Rest House. She also deleted the appointment order she had sent on WhatsApp.

Additional CEO Vasudev Solanke said the matter was brought to the notice of the Chief Executive Officer. He added that the Health Department does not fall under his charge, and Chavan was aware of this, which is why he verified the matter.

District health officer Dr Abhay Dhanorkar clarified that no money is ever demanded for recruitment or appointments in the ZP. All official orders and recruitment-related information are published only on the ZP’s official website, and any such monetary demand is completely illegal.
