The heat is getting stronger in Sambhajinagar. After reaching a high temperature on April 9, the mercury rose again on April 17. The maximum temperature touched 42.4°C, and the minimum was 25.2°C, as per the Chikalthana Observatory. It is expected that the temperature could hit 44°C next week. People are struggling with the scorching heat as they go about their daily work.

Across the country, 281 districts are at risk of a heatwave and this includes every district in Marathwada. Even the nights, which used to be cooler, are now staying warm. Experts say that over 75% of India is facing heat stress. To discuss how to deal with the rising heat, a “Fight Against Heat” workshop was held at the district collector’s office. Officials present included collector Deelip Swami, ZP CEO Ankit, environmentalist Atul Deoulgaonkar, Dr. Meenakshi Bhattacharya, architect Avinash Hawle, and others. Dr. Bhattacharya explained how heatstroke affects the human body and shared safety tips. CEO Ankit asked all departments to work together to handle the rising temperatures. Hawle suggested architectural designs that help reduce heat inside buildings.

Increase in earth's temperature

Environmental expert Atul Deoulgaonkar said the Earth’s temperature has already increased by 1.57°C, which is causing serious health problems. Officials urged people to stay safe and take steps to deal with the heat.
