Collector orders effective implementation of campaign to detect leprosy, TB patients in district

Aurangabad, Nov 30:

The district collector Sunil Chavan today ordered the district health administration to effectively launch the survey to trace patients suffering from leprosy and tuberculosis diseases, in the district, from December 1 to 16. He also directed the officials to prepare an action plan to eradicate the diseases from the district.

The collector was addressing a district coordination committee meeting held at the district collectorate today. The Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Dr Mangesh Gondawale, district civil surgeon Dr S V Kulkarni, the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar, district health officer (DHO) Dr S S Shelke, assistant director health services (leprosy) Dr A B Dhanorkar, district tuberculosis officer Dr Ulhas Gandal, district mother and child care officer Dr Vijay Kumar Wagh, World Health Organisation''s (WHO) Dr Avinash Borkar were present in the meeting.

Chavan stressed on the need for creating awareness about the diseases amongst society. He hoped the survey would help detect the patients (untraced) suffering from leprosy and TB and treat them on a priority basis. He also urged to break the spreading chain of virus so that the diseases does not spreads and reduce the percentage of ailment.

While surveying for finding TB patients, the collector directed to deploy trained health staff while collecting swab samples and x-ray of the suspects for home. The health officials are told to start their treatment immediately. The collector assured the health administration of extending all support to the campaign.

The collector also told the health experts to prepare and submit an action plan to eradicate the diseases from the district to the office. Dr Dhanorkar and Dr Gandal briefed upon the status of diseases, measures which would be taken and required help in implementing the tasks.
