In an administrative development, a 'Fast-Track Revenue Court' will be established in the District Collector's office to resolve pending cases handled by the Tehsildar and District Collector within just three days. In the court, many cases are disposed of under the fast-track system.
Currently, there are 1,200 pending cases, and this court will be operational by the end of January, said the district collector Deelip Swami while speaking to the media persons on the first day of the New Year.
Swami said, “ The concept of the Fast-Track Revenue Court was under consideration to ensure that the citizens of the district receive quick justice. The preliminary preparations have been completed, and a draft has been prepared. The experiment was successfully implemented when I was serving as the additional district collector in Nanded. At that time, 2,000 cases were disposed of within three days. Similarly, pending court cases related to farmers will also be resolved. In these cases, judgments will be delivered immediately without any delays, avoiding the issue of postponement. Through this initiative, "zero pendency" will be achieved.”
Hearing on three days
In this, the review of all the appeal cases under the District Collector, Sub-Divisional Officer, and Tehsildar is being carried out. In this process, lawyers will be issued written notices, dates will be set, and written drafts will be prepared. Without holding any meetings or tours, continuous hearings will be conducted from 10 am to 6 pm over the course of three days. Later on, judgments will be delivered immediately.
What is the purpose of this?
Officials often remain busy with meetings and tours, which causes hearings to be delayed, and dates to be repeatedly postponed. As a result, judgments may take two or more years to be delivered. Farmers and citizens from distant areas travel to the district for hearings. This leads to a lot of stress for the farmers or citizens who have filed cases. The main objective of the 'Fast-Track Revenue Court' is to reduce the mental stress caused by the need for repeated travel for hearings, mentioned the district collector.
