Aurangabad, July 1:

A worker died after falling from the roof of a company while changing the cement sheets at Waluj MIDC area one and a half months back. The Waluj MIDC police have booked the company owner and the contractor holding them responsible for his death.

The deceased Sagar Shivkumar Paswan (Jogeshwari) on May 17 had gone to a company at Waluj MIDC with his friends Tarbez, Alim, Khillare, and others to change the cement sheets on the roof of the company. At around 6.30 pm, the contractor Younus Shaikh told the workers to complete the work and then go home. They denied it as it was getting dark, but Younus compelled them to work.

Sagar fell from the roof around 30 feet high, as the cement sheet broke. He was seriously injured and was taken to the government hospital, where the doctors declared him dead after the examination. The company owner Chandak and contractor Younus Shaikh had not provided any safety equipment to the workers to work in the factory, and no safety measures were adopted, and hence Sagar Paswan died. His mother lodged a complaint at MIDC Waluj police station against Chandak and Younus. PSI Rajendra Bangar is further investigating the case.
