Complete Zoological Park works before monsoon: Civic Chief
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Municipal Commissioner Amol Yedge has directed that the ongoing works of the Rs 250-crore Zoological Park being developed at Mitmita should be completed before the onset of the monsoon. He also instructed a strict ban on bringing any form of plastic inside the park premises.
Yedge reviewed the ongoing works in detail during his visit to the site on Friday. He suggested introducing colour coding based on the species and breed of animals, and using specific colour schemes for enclosures of animals such as lions and tigers.
He further directed that large-scale tree plantation should be undertaken within the park to enhance greenery. Planning should also be done to introduce e-bus services for tourists. He also suggested installing signboards guiding visitors from the airport, railway station, and bus stand to the Zoological Park, along with defining routes for the Smart City bus service.
The Commissioner also recommended planting trees along both sides of internal roads to make the surroundings more attractive. He proposed exploring the implementation of a wind energy project to meet the park’s electricity requirements.
He said that construction should be fully completed before the monsoon, followed by plantation work, and that the introduction of animals should be considered only after the greenery develops next year.
Chief garden superintendent Vijay Patil, Smart City Mission’s deputy chief executive officer Ravindra Jogdand, Project Officers Imran Khan, and Sneha Nair were present during the inspection.
