Aurangabad, May 7:

The salaries of 200 contractual workers working in 4 different plants of Varroc Engineering in Waluj industrial area have been stalled for the last two months. Workers on Friday staged a sit-in stir in front of the company demanding action against the contractor for non-payment of wages. The workers went to work after the management promised to release the pay.

Under the earn and learn scheme, MPTA Education Ltd, Pune, is giving employment opportunities to many young people through contractors in various plants of Varroc Engineering. For the last three to four years, about 200 contractual workers have been working at four different plants. March and April wages have not yet been paid to the workers by the contractor. The workers lodged complaints with the company management, contractors and the labor commissioner office for payment of overdue wages. When contacted, Manoj Kangale of the company's HR department said the issue had been discussed and resolved. All the workers will be paid soon and the workers have agreed to be present at work.
