Aurangabad, Nov 23:

Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice S D Kulkarni has directed pharmacy colleges to admit students as per the intake policy of Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).

According to details, Sayli Trust and other education societies filed petitions requesting the HC to allow them to maintain intake of 120 seats as per the policy of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and cancel limit intake of 60 seats of PCI.

“In a judgement over intake dispute between AICTE and PCI, the Supreme Court (SC) stated that the decision of PCI would be final about Pharmacy colleges. The intake capacity fixed by PCI is a policy decision after considering the requirement of pharmacists in society,” this was informed to the court by PCI lawyer.

After hearing the arguments, the HC rejected the request of the petitioners and asked them to follow the policy of PCI. Senior lawyer V D Hon appeared for the petitioner while adv Sanjiv Deshpande represented the Pharmacy Council.
