Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

In a shocking environmental violation, large-scale deforestation is underway in the MIDC area, raising serious concerns over pollution and ecological imbalance. Instead of contributing to afforestation efforts, some industrialists are recklessly cutting down trees, damaging the region’s environmental integrity.

For the past two days, tree-cutting has been rampant at a factory in Waluj. When questioned, factory officials Nilesh Malat and security guard Ramkrishna Sagane justified the action, claiming the trees obstructed gas and water pipelines used in medicine production. They insisted they had permission and promised to provide documents later.

Where are the security guards?

Despite the presence of five to six security personnel assigned to patrol the area, not a single one was seen preventing the illegal deforestation. Their absence has fueled outrage among local residents and environmental activists, who are now demanding strict action from the MIDC administration and environmental department.

Falling tree injures woman

The reckless tree cutting has already led to an alarming incident. On Sunday at 2.30 pm, a 20-year-old tree suddenly collapsed on Bajajnagar-Ranjangaon Road. A passing scooter rider, a woman, sustained injuries, while a diesel rickshaw was also damaged. Environmentalists are calling for immediate intervention to prevent further destruction. Will the authorities take action before it’s too late?
