Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: An operator of DJ manhandled a policeman when the latter asked the former to reduce volume during Dr Ambedkar Jayanti's celebration process at Kranti Chowk, on Monday night.

A case was registered against Deepak Uttam Dabhade (38) and Ajay Bhimrao Kakade (32, both residents of Nagsen Nagar) at Kranti Chowk Police Station. There was a tight security of Kranti Chowk Police from Kranti Chowk to Gulmandi road.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old girl was crying some distance from the Kadim Mosque, at around 11.50 pm yesterday. Deputy Commissioner of Police Nitin Bagate immediately rushed towards the spot and asked her the reason for crying.

Then, she told the DCP that an unknown person in the crowd committed an obscene act with her. Since Bagate could not hear her voice well due to the nearby DJ's voice, he sent a policeman to reduce the volume of the DJ.

Ajay and Deepak pushed the constable Umesh Awhale. The accused also grabbed his collar and tried to pull the stick. Assistant Commissioner of Police Sampat Shinde said that a case was registered against the duo after taking them into custody. PSI Ashok Ingole is conducting further investigation.
