Attempts to alter the Constitution and weaken its core principles must be resisted, linguist and thinker Dr Ashok Rana asserted at the 19th All India Vidrohi Marathi Sahitya Sammelan. He urged people to rise against forces seeking to replace constitutional values with Manusmriti-driven ideologies.

“The struggle between equality and inequality has existed for centuries. Even today, certain groups are using political power, religious influence, literature and culture to undermine the Constitution, which ensures dignity and fundamental freedoms for all,” Dr. Rana said while presiding over the conference at Malik Ambar Sahitya Nagari. He emphasized the need for an “Ulgulan” (uprising) within constitutional limits to counter this growing threat. Renowned poets and scholars, including Prof Pratibha Ahire, Prof Pralhad Lulekar, Suryakanta Gade, Shaila Rana and Shyam Patil, also attended the event.

History and misinformation

Dr. Rana highlighted the historical significance of the region, once ruled by the Satavahanas a dynasty that promoted knowledge, art, and welfare. He credited their influence for the creation of Buddhist caves in the area. He also alleged that deliberate attempts are being made to misrepresent the prosperous Indus Valley Civilization as part of Vedic culture.
