The municipal administration has decided to take criminal action against those found dumping garbage in major nullahs in the city. This decision will curb dumping of waste in nullahs by residents and commercial establishments. This decision will be implemented from November 29, said municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research Center on Saturday. The municipal corporation spends crores of rupees every year for cleaning of nullahs, However, some citizens, hotel owners and businessmen repeatedly throw garbage in the nullahs. The waste hinders the discharge of water from the nullahs. As a result, many areas experience waterlogging during the rainy season. In this regard, instructions were given by the corporation to create awareness among the people and not to throw garbage in the nala. However, it proved of no use. Hence the municipal administrator A K Pandey has ordered to take criminal action against those who dump garbage in the streets and nullahs. The solid waste management cell has been directed to monitor the dumping of waste. Natasha Zarine, Gauri Mirashi of Civic Response Team, and Pushkal Shivam, deputy CEO, Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Ltd were present.
Implementation from today
Criminal action will be taken against those who dump garbage in the nullahs and on the road from November 29. Currently, preparations are underway for the clean city survey 2021. The month of December is important for this survey. A number of initiatives have also been planned as part of the ''Love Aurangabad'' campaign. Chief of the solid waste disposal department, Nandkumar Bhombe said the Love Aurangabad campaign has encouraged residents and sanitation workers to segregate dry, wet and dangerous waste.
