Edn Dept appointed 14 new invigilators at evening, replaced in morning

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Education Department replaced the newly deployed 14 invigilators at an examination centre in the district overnight. This created a commotion in the education field.

It may be noted that a flying squad of the revenue department visited Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Secondary School (Jatwada Road) on Thursday and found 124 students indulging in mass copying of HSC paper at a single examination hall.

A total of 387 students were taking the HSC biology paper at the centre. The squad found that 125 students were sitting in a single room, instead of five halls. A total of two candidates were sitting on each bench, which is against the norms. As per the norms, only one candidate is allowed on a bench. The team seized the question papers and detected that 124 students ticked certain answers to the multiple-choice questions. It shows this was a case of mass copying.

Ashwini Lathkar (Education Officer-, Secondary Department) said that copies were found in the premises of centres at Vaijapur, Phulambri tehsils, so, cases were registered against the trustees of the education societies there.

The Education Department submitted a proposal to permanently cancel the recognition of this examination centre. The Department sent a letter to the Divisional Board requesting to state the condition of the centre and whether there is mass copying or not.

“No copies were found in the centre located at Jatwada Road. The type of copying found in other institutions and here is different. We have sent a letter to the divisional board regarding whether there is a type of mass copying. They (Board officers) should make a decision,” she added.

Education Department replaced staff overnight

Meanwhile, taking serious notice of the incident, the education department barred the staff from the examination duty centre at Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Secondary School. It prepared a list of 14 teachers list from other colleges on Friday evening to send them as invigilators to this centre to put a check on malpractice in the SSC and HSC examinations. These teachers were specially asked to ensure copy-free examinations. However, the department replaced even these teachers overnight and sent other teachers on Saturday’s paper as invigilators. This has created commotion in the education circle.

5 invigilators booked

all the five invigilators who were on examination duty at a hall which 125 students were taking a paper were booked with Harsul Police Station. Their names are Vaidya V U, Gawli P G, Mahadik P B, Syed Sarwar and Rathod Y M

The Education Department said that based on the report of the tehsildar Ramesh Mundlod and the block education officer (BEO) Deepali Thaware, it was found that the examination was not being conducted properly at Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Higher Secondary School (centre no 0092).
