Chhatrapati Sambahjinagar: An educational bandh will be observed in the city on October 26 under the leadership of Samajik Nyay and Samvidhan Samvardhan Mahasangha against the privatisation of schools.
A demonstration will be staged in front of the divisional commissionerate.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the chief coordinator of the Mahasangh Dr Rishikesh Kamble said that the Government decided to withdraw the contract recruitment system while nothing was done about the privatisation of schools.
Mukund Sonawne, Pandit Borde and K S Atkare were also present at the briefing. Dr Rishikesh Kamble said that they had won half of the battle and the remaining needed to be fought.
Mukund Sonawne, Pandit Borde and K S Atkare said that the common man should get an education in the State and Mahatma Phule, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Gopal Hari Deshmukh, Gopal Agarkar, Maharshi Dhondo Karve and other great leaders played important role in 19th and 20th for this purpose. While the constitution has promised to make education free and compulsory, the progressive rulers of the State started trying to take away this right.
“The Government on September 17 decided to give 62,000 schools to corporate groups. The decision should be withdrawn immediately. Political and social organisations and teachers' unions will participate in educational bandh on October 26,” they added. Vijay Nikalje, Bhimsen Kamble, Chunnilal Jadhav and others were also present.
