CP Pawar warned at a Ram Navami peace meeting that shopkeepers must remove encroachments from public spaces and roads by April 14 and that vehicles encroaching on narrow roads must also be removed by this date. Joint action with the municipal corporation will follow from April 15 to tackle traffic congestion caused by illegal parking.
A month ago, Pawar and senior officers observed business expansions beyond licensed areas. Street vendors and scrap dealers operated on roads. Pawar requested reports from 17 police stations about traffic obstructions. Municipal commissioner G. Sreekant and Pawar decided on strict action against encroachers.

Roads encroached by shops
Krantichowk, Cidco, Jinsi, City Chowk, Paithan Gate, Mukundwadi, and other main markets are facing road blockages due to trading activities and customer parking directly on the streets. Shopkeepers have also extended their establishments by 10-20 feet beyond legal limits in various areas.

Good roads are not for encroachments
“The cement roads constructed by the municipal corporation are not meant for encroachments. We urge citizens to take the initiative and remove these encroachments themselves. While we have the option to file criminal cases in this regard, we will not. However, starting from April 15th, action will begin in the central city.”
