For the first time an export plan has been prepared to know exactly how many products are exported every month, every year from various industrial estates in the district. For this, a committee has been set up under the chairmanship of district collector Sunil Chavan by the order of the state government and the first meeting of this committee was held here recently.
Export of large quantities of steel, automobile parts, vehicles from Bajaj company, plastic film, cotton and other products from the industrial sector in the district including Waluj, Shendra, Railway Station and Chikalthana are exported to different countries. Every year more than 50,000 containers are sent from the district to abroad. However, there is no plan on exactly how many products are exported abroad and which companies are involved. The state government has now decided to set up export promotion committees in the districts having industrial belts. This committee will provide information to the government about the export plan and the facilities required for it. MIDC regional officer Rajesh Joshi, DIC''s Kashinath Dekate, MIDC executive engineer Bhushan Harshe, CMIA president Kamlesh Dhoot, Massia president Abhay Hanchanal, CII president Mukund Kulkarni, Savera Group''s Pritish Chatterjee, Prasad Kokil, Raman Ajgaonkar and Shiv Prasad Jaju were present.
Exports of Rs 10,000 crore per annum
The district exports products worth Rs 10,000 crore per annum from various industrial estates. Bajaj alone exports vehicles worth Rs 7,500 crore a year. The remaining Rs 2,500 crore comes from other industries. More than 70 industries are consistent in sending products abroad. Large number of companies are also among occasional exporters. Among the regular exporters are Bajaj, Endress-Hauser, Varroc, Endurance, Bagla Group, Badwe Engineering and Balkrishna Tires.
