Aurangabad, April 9: “I have sung a lot of songs during my five-decade old career but some moments, like today's MGM University song release, are very inspiring. The feeling that I sang a university song that would be a guide for thousands of students is very inspiring to me,’’ said veteran playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy. She was speaking at the launch of MGM University Anthem in an online programme today.

Lyricist Sanjay Mohod, Mukta Bhide, chancellor of MGM University Ankushrao Kadam, vice-chancellor Dr Sudhir Gavhane, trustee Prataprao Borade, deputy dean of MGM Medical Hospital and College Dr Praveen Suryavanshi, registrar of MGM University Dr Ashish Gadekar and Ranjit Kakkad were present. 'Appo Deep Bhav' is the slogan of the MGM University. Mohod has composed the university song on the same theme. Kavita Krishnamurthy has sung the song and the late composer Narendra Bhide was the music arranger.

Mohod said that thoughts of saints like Gautam Buddha, Guru Nanak, Saint Kabir, Mahavira, and thinkers and scientists like Einstein have been woven to make the university anthem. ‘Everyone should self-lighten and also lighten others. You are the identity of your own, but you also want to see the identity of the world, and that identity is present in you. We are ready to give the whole knowledge of the world and you take advantage of that knowledge,’’ Mohod explained the content of the song. Head, MGM Radio Devashish Shedge hosted the event.

Narrating the story behind the making of the Anthem, chancellor Ankushrao Kadam said, “During a conversation, Mohod asked about the phrase 'Appo Deepo Bhava' in the logo of MGM University. As soon as I told him about it, he came up with the idea of making a university song. I also put a few lines in it. Kavita recorded the song in Bengaluru and Narendra Bhide composed the music in his studio in Pune and a great song came into existence.”
